A Little Insight into Digital Composites!
Digital backgrounds are a popular choice for families who want something a bit different - they really do add a special touch to your gallery so I love to include them where possible!
If you have a favourite that stands out, it’s best to let me know ahead of your session so that I can position baby correctly for your chosen scene. The pose, camera angle and lighting are some of the most important things to pay attention to when creating composites. If these are not a good match for the digital background, the result will not look realistic!
Here are some of my favourites:
It may seem obvious, but we can’t safely perform this suspended swing setup in real life! That’s another reason I love digital backgrounds – we can still achieve gorgeous images of babies in the sweetest setups, even when it wasn’t possible to create this scene in reality. Thank you Photoshop!! :-)
The heart and wings option has such a beautiful, soft, angelic feel to it and would look amazing printed large for the wall! If the lighter white/cream/grey palette doesn’t quite fit with your décor at home, this digital also comes in darker earthy tones too.
Photographing baby on black can help when it comes to adding shadows underneath them in the final image. Colour is also an important consideration with digital composites. Little Louis was photographed in green but with this background in blue tones, it was important to change the wrap colour to tie in nicely with the surroundings. It's the little details that matter ;-)
I’ve used the hot air balloon digital for both newborn and milestone sessions! This one has a whimsical, fairy-tale feel and is definitely a favourite with parents – probably my most requested digital background! There is also the option to add a rainbow which is a lovely touch for rainbow babies.
Again, of course we can’t pose a newborn baby on an elephant’s trunk in real life, but it does make a super cute image! I love the contrast of baby’s soft skin and the rough texture of the elephant. This one looks great in black and white too! Which is your favourite?
