Today I wanted to answer a few of those burning questions that tend to come up most often, and what better way to address them than all together in one blog post! I hope this gives you a little insight into how I work with my clients and helps you to decide whether Sarah Mahon Photography could be a great fit for your needs :-)
#1 What if my baby won't settle?
Some babies take longer than others to settle and that’s okay! I’m a baby-led photographer which means I’ll always work at your baby’s own pace and respond to their cues – nothing is ever forced.
If your baby is wide awake and alert at the beginning of the session, I like to take advantage of this for some more candid/natural photographs with their eyes open!
I’ll then take my time to rock your baby to sleep, wrap them snugly, and use a combination of white noise and gentle strokes/patting to encourage sleep for the traditional newborn poses.
I always allow plenty of time for feeding, changing and cuddling when your baby needs it, so we are never rushed which I know my clients appreciate.
#2 How much does it cost?
Custom designed portraiture is definitely an investment but one that grows in value over time. These portraits will only become more meaningful to you as the years go on and your family grows older.
Each family I work with spends a different amount depending on what it is they are looking for out of this commission. I prefer not to offer cookie-cutter packages so that you have more freedom to tailor your order to suit your own family and home.
Session fees and starting prices are listed under the pricing tab of the main menu, and you’ll also have the opportunity to come in and view all the products available along with their prices at your consultation.
Every family that decides to book at the end of their consultation will also receive a welcome pack with a detailed investment guide which will help you when it comes to planning your purchases at home.
#3 What kind of products do you offer?
We offer a carefully curated selection of the highest quality products, all of which are archival meaning they are designed to last! My priority is to provide families with bespoke art pieces that you can eventually hand down to your children one day.
Maybe you’re looking for a traditional heirloom album to flick through with your child as they grow, or perhaps you’d prefer the more modern option of a keepsake collection box to display and store your printed portraits? Maybe you'd love to see your favourite image framed and printed large for the wall in your living room, or a few smaller prints to decorate babies room!
Whatever you decide to order will be expertly handcrafted and unique to you & your family.
#4 What about the digital files?
The good news is that although Sarah Mahon Photography focuses on providing families with tangible art products that stand the test of time, we also include a matching digital image with every print purchased – so it’s the best of both worlds!
I understand that, as a mum, of course you’ll want those digital copies to share online and to make your own small duplicate prints for friends and family, so the digitals are perfect for that while the professionally printed products are for you and your family to enjoy daily in your home :-)
#5 When will I be able to see the photographs?
You will be able to see your photographs for the first time at your ordering appointment which takes place within 14 days of your photoshoot - get the tissues ready! This is probably the most exciting and emotional part for families.
I’ll be there to help you select your favourites and guide you through your options for displaying them. This in-person service allows us to compare images side by side, as well as discuss any particular editing requests that you might have as we look through your images.
We also have the ability to show you what your photographs would look like on your very own walls at home (to scale) using some clever software! It's all part of the service.
If you are currently pregnant or a new parent in Glasgow and this sounds like an experience you'd be interested in, please don't hesitate to get in touch and I'll be happy to answer any other questions you may have! :-)
